The Boss

The Boss - Abigail Barnette, Jenny Trout This book is an erotic romance that does everything right that other books completely failed at *cough* 50 Shades of Grey.

- Neil and Sophie's characters feel real and are relatable, they grow and have depth
- They build up their trust
- There is real chemistry between the Neil and Sophie
- The relationship progresses at a believable pace and is actually realistic and actually healthy
- Their BDSM relationship is just that, and not some damaged, manipulative 'relationship'
- Neil never gives of creepy vibes or acts like a borderline abusive psychopath
- There is mutual respect
- Neil doesn't intrude on Sophie's life and doesn't interfere inappropriately with her work (he's her boss)
- There is an amazing relationship between the Sophie and her best friend that actually portraits a healthy friendship
- There is no slut shaming, victim blaming or other things found in other erotic romances *cough* 50 Shades of Grey

I did have a slight hang-up about the age difference (he is about 20 years older) but hey, to each their own.

I really enjoyed this book, especially since it showed that it is possible to write a good erotic romance.
